Anderida Writers is a small and friendly group, open to writers of all levels and ages. They offer a range of benefits for the members, including: monthly meetings and social functions, guest speakers, workshops, critique meetings, an annual competition and more.

Brighton NightWriters

Location: Brighton

Description:

Brighton NightWriters is a creative writing group that meets once a week to read and discuss members' work in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. 

Some members are published, some just write for pleasure and some are new to creative writing. Not everyone attends every week, but - whatever our age or walk of life - we all enjoy sharing our stories, poetry and plays with others.

Brighton WordPlay is a group for people who love words and putting lots of them together to form interesting stories, songs, plays, poems - you name it!

It's free, and is a series of fun writing exercises that change each time.

Crawley Creative Writers

Description:

Putting Pen to Paper

We are a writers' group run by volunteers. Our aim is to improve our writing by sharing skills and techniques. Members share their work and through discussion build confidence in the abilities.

Our group is open to all writers, and currently consists of: storytellers, poets, novelists, short story writers and non-fiction writers.

Membership is free.

Freehand Writers

Location: Oxford

Description:

The Freehand Writers was founded in 2007 in order to offer a forum in which Oxfordshire-based writers could develop their writing, whether fiction, verse or drama. The group was begun by graduates of Oxford University's Diploma in Creative Writing but it is open for anyone to attend.

The group meets monthly in central Oxford and operates as a writers' group. The group is intended as a supportive space to seek advice and inspiration from other writers and to provide an opportunity to develop writing through constructive critiquing of work.

Further information & booking:

Meets in Oxford every second Tuesday of the month at 7.45 pm. Meetings last approximately two hours. Some parking is available on site - please call the Porters' Lodge (01865 278300) on arrival.

Hastings Writers' Group

Description:

Hastings Writers' Group is one of the longest-established groups of its kind, having been founded in 1947, and also one of the largest, with over 40 members. The activities include varied competitions with guest judges, speakers, manuscript evenings, workshops and fun evenings  with an aim to offer something for everyone who enjoys writing.

The group come from many different backgrounds and have diverse writing experience. They aim to help all members develop their writing skills by providing a varied and interesting programme of meetings, and offering constructive feedback on their work in a supportive and friendly atmosphere.

Havant & District Writers' Circle has been in existence for over fifty years, and has helped many members to become successful writers during that time.

Rottingdean Writers’ Group

Location: Rottingdean

Description:

This dynamic group, organised on co-operative principles, meets twice-monthly to present new work for supportive critique and joint learning. Their two sell-out ‘Writers Allowed’ workshops at Brighton Fringe were short-listed for The Latest awards. They collaborate with local art galleries to create writing inspired by specific paintings, and co-sponsor The Sussex Poets’ Competition with Brighton and Hove Arts Council.

West Sussex Writers

Description:

Members of West Sussex Writers are an eclectic bunch. We have scriptwriters, literary novelists, science fiction writers, poets, saga writers, dramatists, creative writing tutors, children's writers, journalists and biographers – amongst others - in our midst. Many, but not all, are published. Some have a lifetime of writing experience, others are at the start of their writing career, and a few haven't written anything yet.

Our aim is to help writers in all genres, to encourage their work and offer advice, if wanted, towards publication or gaining a wider readership. We achieve this through a mix of talks, workshops and competitions, offering something different at every meeting.
