About Ian McEwen
Ian is a poet with a substantial record of publication in magazines and anthologies. His pamphlet The Stammering Man won the Templar prize in 2010 and his first full collection will be published by Cinnamon Press in 2013. Prizes and commendations in a wide range of competitions have come his way, from the National Poetry Competition to Slams and pamphlet contests. He is on the editorial board of Magma, and will be editing Magma 58. He founded and promotes the Bedford open mic series 'Ouse Muse'.
Ian is a committed and successful workshop leader. He is very interested in opportunities to lead workshops, engage with organisations as a writer in residence or even lend his experience to the unglamourous 'back office' organisation of poetry and literature intiatives.
Ian has a background in business and finance, ranging from large organisations to bio-tech start-ups. He also has considerable knowledge of charity administration, with over ten years experience as a trustee of a large educational charity. He is treasurer for Magma and oversaw its transition to registered charity status, as well as contributing to its (successful) grant applications. He teaches philosophy for the Oxford University Continuing Education Department.
