Storytelling for immersive transmedia experiences.
This series of active participatory workshops are intended to inspire, inform and galvanise your interest in new forms of writing. The workshops aim to provide an understanding of the concepts of transmedia storytelling, to provide you with skills for telling your own transmedia stories and to equip you with a different perspective on this new emerging form of storytelling. You don’t need any previous experience, just an open mind and a willingness to learn something new.
Transmedia storytelling (also known as transmedia narrative or multiplatform storytelling) is the technique of telling a single story or story experience across multiple platforms and formats using current digital technologies.
Our workshop leaders are all experts in the field and have extensive experience of leading workshops for community projects. At the workshops, you will activity engage with new ideas, new skills and new techniques. You will also produce something useful by the end of the workshop that you can take away with you.
Workshops run on Saturdays 16 and 30 March and 6 April from 10am to 3.30pm with a 30-minute break for lunch (BYO is advised).
You should bring writing materials and if possible a laptop or tablet.
Tickets: £5 (plus booking fee) per workshop in advance only. Free for staff and students at University of Portsmouth (a cash refund will be provided on the day of the workshop on presentation of appropriate ID).
