Filigree: Contemporary Black British Poetry – Book Launch at New Writing South

 In Events, News & Features

Filigree is the second anthology of contemporary Black British poetry published by Peepal Tree Press, a leader in Caribbean and Black British Literature. It follows in the footsteps of previous successful anthologies: RED (poetry) and Closure (short stories). Poet Hannah Lowe says of Filigree “what struck me most is the varied and accomplished craft of these writers – the link with poetics and traditions past, but always with an eye to renewal and invention.” Filigree’s inclusion of fresh voices from a younger generation of Black British poets illustrates Inscribe’s commitment to producing ground breaking anthologies. Included are young Poet Laureates of London, Poets from the Octavia Collective, Barbican Young Poets and The Complete Works as well as a wealth of other recognisable names.

The book launch will take place on Saturday 16 March at The Writers’ Place, Brighton, 7 pm till late. It will feature a selection of the poets in the book and a short Q&A with Editor, Nii Parkes – and of course a drink! Books will be available for buying and signing!
